We got word of a free Jeep show back East, and since nothing back East is free, we were skeptical to say the least. After looking into it, we found out that Jeff Daniels Jeep Customizing in Harleysville, Pennsylvania, really was putting on a Jeep show that was not only free to enter, but free for spectators, as well.
This past September 22, we were there for the Fourth annual All Jeep Show. Jeff and Dan of Jeff Daniels Jeeps open their doors once a year to anyone who wants to come, and the vibe of the show is like these guys invited you to hang out at their garage. Yeah, you and about 800 other people. We don't know how many people or Jeeps were really there, but it was a big show by eastern standards-especially for one put on privately.
That's right, we aren't messing with you-this is really a right-hand drive Willys truck. one of many cool Jeeps just sitting around the shop's grounds. | People came from all over the country to attend this show. This FC and CJ-6 coming from Arizona. | While it is free to get in, there are still trophies given out for the best of each of the 19 categories. We tried to get a trophy for best Girls Jeep, but no one bought the stuffed bra or the wig. |
If you've got a Jeep, or like Jeeps, this isthe show for you to check out. There are 19 categories being judged, so your Jeep will fit in somewhere. If you are just coming to look at the Jeeps, with that many categories, you can be assured that, no matter what kind of Jeep you like, there will be some of that model there for you to ogle.
This year, the obstacle course was shut down due to insurance concerns, but there were so many other things going on that it really wasn't an issue at all. If you are planning on attending in 2008, keep in mind that this is a one-day show, starting at noon, and going until dark, with a fireworks show to end the festivities. For more info on this year's event, go to jeffdanielsjeeps.com.
With hippity-hops and the finger painting of derelict Jeeps to offer, what kid wouldn't want to go to this Jeep show? | We've complained about how the YJ got skipped in popularity before. Well, that sure wasn't the case here, with more YJs in one place than we can remember seeing. | We heard this Golden Eagle CJ-7 coming five minutes before we saw it. With the wide rear tires and the throaty rumble, we had to get a shot of the engine-and of the 12.55 quarter-mile time this 401-powered CJ boasts. |
There was even a class for fullsize Jeeps. We couldn't help but think how much Cappa would love this class. Then we saw a bunch of original or nicely restored Wagoneers, and we were kind of glad Cappa and his Sawzall were on the other coast. | When we saw this MB pull in, we thought we'd fallen into a Jeep ad. Just for a second. We'd say this is a really nice WWII Jeep for the northeast, but the truth is that it's a really nice WWII Jeep for anywhere. | Even the local Jeep dealership got in on welcoming people. Lansdale Chrysler Jeep made it a point to bring one of every current Jeep model. They also made it a point to fire up the SRT-8 Grand Cherokee every once in a while. |
