Farabee's Jeep Rentals
Vehicle type/model and equipment: Mix of standard and Rubicon two- and four-door JK Wranglers. Non-Rubicons are equipped with rear Eaton Truetrac differentials. All vehicles equipped with 2- or 3-inch lifts and Rubicon tire and wheel packages.
Rates: Farabee's plays it somewhat by ear on rental length, either by 24-hour periods or calendar days depending on your desired pickup and drop-off times. Spring, summer, and winter rates differ, but spring rates are as follows:
•$175/day for two-door Rubicon
•$150/day for two-door Sport
•$225/day for four-door Rubicon
•$175/day for four-door Sport
Multi-day and half-day rates may be slightly less.
Reservation/cancellation info: A credit card is required for reservations. There's a 48-hour cancellation policy, but Farabee's is usually pretty lenient if you call before that with a good excuse. If you're a jerk about it and simply don't show, you'll incur the full rental fee.
Insurance requirements: Renters must provide their own full-coverage vehicle insurance. Renters must check with their insurance company first to make sure that they will be covered for vacation rental vehicle.
Additional/optional coverage: Additional tire and glass protection is available for $25/day that includes replacement for one tire-per day or any glass chips or cracks from small rock damage. Full window/windshield damage is not covered, so if you smash out the side glass you or your insurance company is gonna pay for it.
Minimum age: You must be 25 years old to rent, however Farabee's has made some exceptions for active military personnel or other cases. Any exceptions to the age requirement may be made on an individual basis, but don't expect it.
International stipulations: Some Canadian insurance companies cover drivers when renting in the U.S., but most other international insurance companies don't. Renters must provide their own U.S. full-coverage insurance policies.
Trail stipulations: Farbee's maintains a running list of off-limit trails that varies based on current trail conditions. As a whole, trails such as Hell's Revenge are usually okay, but others like Cliff Hanger and Poison Spider Mesa may or may not be permitted if they're chewed up at the time of rental.
What is the process for damage?: Farabee's charges only the replacement cost of damaged components and it tries to be realistic. Its goal is simply to make the Jeep whole again and not make money off its customer for repairs. If serious damage such as a rollover, blown engine, or other catastrophic damage is deemed the fault of the renter, an insurance claim will be made.
What is the process for trail breakage or extreme stuck?: Farabee's prefers to rescue and repair all its own equipment. In the event of customer-caused damage, repair or recovery fees of $50-$100/hour or more may be assessed depending on the situation. The vehicle may be repaired in the field, or in the case of more time-consuming fixes, swapped out for a different vehicle on the spot. If you totally wreck the vehicle (rollover, blown engine, etc.) and you're at fault, you're out of luck. Don't expect them to deliver a new Jeep. In the event of a vehicular break not caused by the customer, no fee will be assessed and the vehicle will be swapped out on the spot.
Moab Airport shuttle service or drop-off availabilty: Farabee's will provide free airport pick-up and drop-off for multi-day rental contracts and even for single-day contracts in some cases for its repeat customers. For others, airport pick-up and drop-off fees of $20-$50 may be assessed. Vehicle drop-off and pick-up to and from local hotels and campsites is free with all rentals.
Any off-road driving tips/training offered if needed: Farabee's will introduce its customers to its Jeeps and familiarize them with operation of the equipment (T-case, lockers, four-wheel-drive system) and suggest trails appropriate to their abilities, but otherwise the company does not offer any formal training or courses.
