Jeep Cj Engine
Look for the V-8. As the years went on, more emissions stuff stifled the 304, but still, there's nothing quite like driving the factory hot rod that is the V-8-powered CJ.

Jeep Cj Body Cracks
Regardless of what year you end up looking at, look for cracks in the frame. The common places are near the spring perches, motor mounts, and the steering box. Look everywhere; cracks can appear in the strangest of places.

Jeep Cj Body Rot
With no galvanization on the bodies to speak of, even the nicest-looking CJ is likely to have body rot somewhere. The floorboards, top of the rear inner fenders, and around the tailgate are likely areas to look for it.
