Jeep Reader Letters - Mail Bag

I'm On An Amish Radio

After reading Mailbag (June '07), I just wanted to write in and say thank you. I can't stand it when magazines or TV shows apologize for offending people. If more people didn't stand up to those offended, we'd have a country full of Amish because they can't watch anything on TV, read anything in print, or surf the net. Crap, I probably offended someone that knows someone that has seen an Amish person.Jay CliftVia e-mai

Jeepspeed

I have recently acquired an XJ and want to make it into a Jeepspeed racer while still being a daily driver. I love Jeeps and the idea of off-roading, but rockcrawling is just too slow for me. What steps could I take to making my stock XJ into a successful Jeepspeed vehicle?Dave LarsonVia e-mail

Practice Makes Perfect

Once again you're practicing the skill of artful agitation (Trail Head, Aug. '07), or as I like to say, "A little stomach acid will do you good!" Keep it up-you're my monthly humor break. Also, I just got back from Moab, Utah, where I wheeled a rental JK with a 2-inch lift and 32-inch tires on Fins & Things, Hell's Revenge, and Steel Bender. It never once let me down on anything I put it through. I did nearly put it on its nose at that steep drop going north to south on Steel Bender but saved it at the last second. I worry about the sensor-driven things and their longevity, but otherwise, it was very capable. Until I can live closer, a rented JK is not a bad deal, just make sure you check all the appropriate insurance boxes.Ron CrumplerPanama City Beach, Florida

Write Us!

Got a question or comment about Jp Magazine or the village idiots at the helm? Drop us a line. Don't forget to include your full name and where you're from, or we'll make fun of you. Actually, we may make fun of you anyway. Keep it short and to the point, or we'll hack and chop your letter as we please. We get a lot of mail, but we read every letter. Unfortunately, we can't print or personally answer every request. We're too busy surfing the Internet on the company dime. Digital images should be no less than 1,600x1,200 pixels (or two megapixels) and should be saved as a TIFF, an EPS, or a maximum-quality JPEG file.
