The Dodge 1/2-ton-truck NP231D is easily spotted by its long rear slip-yoke housing (9.25 inches from the rear of the case half to the end of the aluminum housing). The D features a wider chain and a larger hub and sleeve, but it needs a short-shaft kit for installation in a YJ or a TJ. It would fit in an XJ with the long output yoke, but the output shaft spline is different and would require a different yoke on the driveshaft. View Related Article
