Red Jr.
Mike Yablon of Phoenix, Arizona, waited until he'd covered many of the trails in Arizona to send us some pictures of his '04 TJ Sport. Before he took it out, he added a 2.5-inch Rancho suspension lift and a 1-inch body lift to clear the 32x11.5 R15 BFG ATs on 8-inch wide black steel rims. The front bumper comes from Toys by Troy, while a Warn differential cover and steering box skid protects the vitals. Mike lifted the engine up an inch, and then put on a slip-yoke eliminator with a CV driveshaft to eliminate the vibrations caused by lifting.
Patchwork Flatfender
This '45 CJ-2A was cobbled together from all kinds of vehicles. Jason Binnion tells us he was too cheap to buy new stuff, so he built what he had to and made whatever he could get work. It's got a '74 Ford 302 V-8 backed by an NP435 and Spicer-18. The front and rear Dana 44s were swiped from a '76 Wagoneer, and then the front was stuffed with a Detroit, the rear with a spool, and both with 4.88 gears. For a suspension, he's built a custom four-link front/three-link rear, which stretched the overall wheelbase 9 inches. There is also an '87 Astro Van steering column to turn the 37x12.5 R15 MT/Rs on bead lock rims.
Lazy XJ
OK, with a 4.0L inline-six, AX-15, and NP231 with SYE and heavy-duty driveshaft, the '94 Cherokee itself isn't lazy. However, the XJ's owner, Brian Smithmeyer, tells us he is. It wasn't until he saw the online method for sending in a Jeep Shots submission that he sent us one. Seems he's too lazy to send it via snail mail. The XJ has a 6-inch Rubicon Express lift with TNT long-arm Y-link kit and Bilstein 5151 shocks. This allows clearance of the 35x13.5 R15 Toyo Open Country MTs. The 35s are turned by a Dana 44 front with a Detroit Electrac and out back is a Ford 9-inch axle with a Spool. Both ends got 4.56 gears to keep the stock-like performance. Inside is a custom interior cage, which holds up some Corbeau Baja SS seats for wheeling comfort.
