Pismo Racing Flattie...
Or so Jake Munoz of Gardnerville, Nevada, tells us. This '51 CJ-3A has been in his family for almost 40 years. His dad used to race it at Pismo Beach, but in the 10 years Jake has owned it, the Jeep has changed just a bit. Now it's running 39.5-inch IROKs on 15x10 chrome wheels with a spring-over conversion and 2-inch '78 CJ-5 springs providing the lift. A Chevy 350 runs power through a SM420 and Spicer 18 to a Dana 60 out back and a Dana 44 in the front. Both axles are running true flatfender gears: 5.38s. The rear has a high-zoot Lincoln locker while the front is sporting a Lock-Right. The rear axle was moved back 5 inches and the frame was extended 9 inches to yield a 94-inch wheelbase flatfender.
Textbook YJ
Fernando Sanchez of Greenfield, California, sent us a picture of his '94 Wrangler that is built by the book. Adhering to the KISS principle, Fernando built a Jeep that he can use for daily driving, as well as for messing around on the weekends. The suspension sports a Fabtech 3-inch lift that includes Fabtech springs and shocks. The front and rear axles were left alone, while the inline-six got a Banks header and Flowmaster Force II after-cat exhaust to help motivate the 33x12.5-15 Yokohama Geolander MTs mounted on 15x8 black steel Rockcrawlers. He also tells us he got a bit too happy with the stupid pedal while the wife was along, hit a pile of mud, and almost flopped it on its side. To this day, Fernando's wife still doesn't like wheeling in the mud
Cleaned-Up CJ-7
This '84 CJ-7 is clean in the photo compared to what it normally looks like. That's what Tim Williams of Texarkana, Arkansas, tells us. Under the hood, the CJ still has the stock 258-cubic inch six-cylinder, but it has a Motorcraft M2100 carburetor on it and GM HEI conversion. The T4 transmission is mated to a Dana 300 transfer case that sends power to the front Dana 30 and rear AMC 20 with one-piece axles. A Black Mountain 4-inch lift allows plenty of clearance for the 33x12.50 R15 Remington Mud Brutes. While Tim has a winch on the front of his CJ, we can only guess at what it is because he didn't include any info on it. However, he does cruise around with a snatch block on the winch cable, making it that much easier for the winch to pull him out of those deep mud holes.
