Mud Covered
This '94 YJ was sent in by Derek French of Elmira, New York. With a stock 2.5L four-banger, AX-5, NP231, Dana 30 front axle, and Dana 35 rear, the story here isn't what he's swapped out, it is how he uses it. With just a Rough Country 4-inch lift to clear 33x12.50R15 Aurora Mud Terrains on 15x8 Cragar steel rims, he uses it to within an inch of its life. He's got a story about five hours and a come-along to pull it out of the mud, pictures of it completely coated in muck, and so on. Way to get out there and use it, Derek.
One Cold Ride
Grandview Washington is the hometown of this '48 CJ-2A owned by Don Neil. The stock 134ci L-head engine is mated to an SM465 and Dana 20 with the stock Dana 25 and Dana 41 axles still under the Jeep. The front axle got a Lock-Right, but still spins the stock 5.38 gears while the rear got welded into a spool. Both axles have been moved under the springs to provide more clearance for the 31x12.50R15LT Super Swamper SSRs.
Twisted Rubi
Start with the best out-of-the-box, off-road vehicle Jeep ever made. Add a 4 1/2-inch Rubicon Express long-arm lift with a Tri-Link Rear, Rancho RS 9000X shocks, JKS bar-pin eliminators, and Rock Crawler heavy steer. Top that off with a bolt-in cage, nerf bars, Fabtech front bumper and Warn rear bumper, put a winch on it, and leave all the good factory stuff alone. Mike and Carolyn Lesch from Portland, Oregon, left the inline-six, Rock-Trac transfer case, and Dana 44s with lockers intact to spin 33x12.50R15 Goodyear MT/Rs.
Airborne Flattie
Ole Graversen of Olso, Norway, sent in what appears to have started life as a CJ-2A or 3A. What it started with isn't as important as the fact that it now has an 863hp, 540ci Chevy V-8, modified TH400 automatic transmission, and modified NP241. Two-inch Fox coilover shocks are attached to a hybrid Dana 60/Ford 9-inch front axle and a Ford 9-inch rear. The tires are Scat-Truck 33.5/17-16 Bigger Digger and Super Scoopers mounted on 16x18 Real Racing aluminum rims. Built for Formula Off-Road, this Jeep also skips across water pretty well.
Beener's Jeep
Under the "owner's name" portion of the Jeep Shots form was one word: Beener. From Orlando, Florida, his '01 TJ was built to trail ride. The stock I-6 is coupled to an NVG3550 and an Atlas II transfer case. It turns out Beener isn't too keen on filling out forms, but he did tell us that there is a 4-inch lift on the Jeep with Durango Mud Terrains mounted on Rock Crawler rims.

When the Willys-edition TJ came out in '04, we weren't big fans. It seemed like a lot of money for some OD-colored stuff and stickers. Then we saw this one sent in by Ryan Richards of Massachusetts. Sure, he forgot to fill out the form, but there was just something about this picture we really liked. It's a basically stock Jeep, with the addition of some driving lights on the windshield and front bumper, a set of Runway Enduro ATs, and a CB. Sure, it isn't as heavily modified as many of the rigs we feature in Jeep Shots, but Ryan is out there using it, and that is all that matters.
