Reader Rides Jeep Shots 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Burrrrr

This '00 Cherokee has one modification: BFG All-Terrain tires. Yuri Casillas of Everett, Washington, didn't need any bells and whistles. He figures, if it isn't broke, there is no reason to fix it. From the pictures, most of this Jeep's wheeling is done in the snow, and he hasn't busted anything yet. One cold and snowy day, he was heading up Steven's Pass and the state troopers were making everyone pull over to put on snow chains. Apparently, the BFGs were enough--the cop just waved Yuri on.

Dune

This really clean '51 CJ-3A was sent in from Dave and Tiffany Peifer of La Verne, California. With a set of 33x12.50 Coopers and 33x14 paddles for the sand, they can drive this Jeep in the dunes and on the street. Powered by a Chevy V-8 coupled to a T-10 transmission and Dana 18 transfer case, this Jeep can get out of its own way. Bilstein 5150 shocks provide damping for the Dana 30 front axle and Ford 9-inch rearend.

Project-J

Mike Puruleski sent in this '48 CJ-2A from somewhere in Arizona. He got it from his friend, Tom, and did a ton of work on it including a fully boxed frame, locked axles, Ford 302 V-8, C4 auto transmission, Dana 20 transfer case, GM tilt steering column, and all the mounts and adapters were fabricated (except for one that came from Advance Adapters). It took three hard years for Mike to get this done, and he'd just like to thank his wife, Terri, for the patience to see it through to completion with him.

Injected

If the bright orange paint wasn't enough to tip you off that Craig Brown's '76 CJ-5 is something special, the custom license plate that reads injectd should get even the dullest knife in the drawer thinking. Hailing from somewhere in Tennessee, this Jeep features a 0.030 over 304 with a custom TBI fuel-injection setup and a mild Edelbrock camshaft. A Currie steering-box brace keeps the 33x12.50R 15 BFG Mud Terrains from tearing the box off the frame. A 4-inch Superlift Suspension with a 1-inch body lift and 1-inch shackle lift provides plenty of clearance.
