July 2010 Jeep Shots

Full Throttle
Jason Deck hails from Xenia, Ohio, but this picture of his '06 was snapped at the Haspin Acres Off-Road Park in Indiana. The 4.0L still sends power out to the stock Dana 30 front and Dana 35 rear axles spinning 33x12.50R15 Cooper Discoverer tires. A Skyjacker 4-inch lift provides clearance but a slip yoke eliminator was needed to eliminate driveline vibrations. Xenon flat-panel flares limit the amount of mud slung onto the Jeep and a Smittybuilt front bumper houses a 9000-lb Warn winch.

Eleven Year Old
After Joe Wilson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, managed to get a few days off work, he took his 11-year-old son Chase out to the Chile Challenge where Chase snapped this picture of Joe's '02 Wrangler Sahara on Tobasco Twister. The Jeep sports the factory-installed 4.0L inline-six and automatic transmission but the NP231 is gone in favor of a 3.8:1 Atlas II transfer case. The front Dana 30 and rear Dana 44 were both stuffed with 4.10 gears and ARB Air Lockers and then hung off a 5-inch Teraflex LCG Max Long-Arm lift kit. A 1-inch Daystar body lift helps to provide plenty of space for a set of 35x12.5R15 Goodyear MT/Rs wrapped around a set of American Racing AR136 aluminum wheels.

Long Bow
Mike Beck of Revelstoke, British Columbia, has built this '08 Unlimited to be his family's daily driver and weekend explorer. This picture was taken on Silver Cup Ridge and shows off the 33x12.50 Cooper STT tires and 2-inch Rubicon Express lift. What you can't really see is that it has a pair of BDS quick disconnects on it and a Superchips Flashpaq to help the V-6 deal with the mountains around Revelstoke.

Bill's Jeep
This submission was sent in by Corey Patton, but it isn't his Jeep. This '99 TJ belongs to Corey's brother-in-law, Bill McCready, and the stock six-cylinder spins through the stock trans and turns a Stak 300 with a TerraLow 4:1 kit. Power then goes out to the factory front Dana 30 and rear Dana 44, both with 4.88 gears and ARB Air Lockers turning some 37-inch Super Swamper Iroks. A tubular front bumper houses a Warn M8000 winch, and Bill runs the Jeep doorless just as much as he can.

Gorilla
Kris Deconti of Canadensis, Pennsylvania, is the proud owner of this muddy and snowy '99 Cherokee. The classic 4.0L is coupled with a stout AW4 automatic transmission but that's about all we know about it. Kris also told us that a Bully Bar front bumper houses a Gorilla winch and a 41/2-inch Rough Country lift kit provides the elevation. The roof rack is made by Surco, and a Hi-Lift jack is on hand at all times. It looks like he pulled the wheels off a Rubicon TJ and wrapped some Super Swamper TrXus tires around them.

Big Sky
Marc Weedop of Burley, Idaho, raided the Teraflex catalog to put together this awesome '04 Unlimited. A 6-inch Teraflex LCG Pro-Max lift kit provides elevation with a Teraflex slip yoke eliminator kit keeping rear driveshaft vibes at bay. Protection comes in the form of Teraflex shorty bumpers front and rear, a Teraflex gas tank skid, Belly-Up skid, transmission skid, oil pan skid, steering box skid and even Teraflex rock sliders. A Viar 450C provides onboard air and feeds the ARB Air Locker in the Dana 44 front axle while the Dana 44 rear axle got 5.13 gears and a Detroit Locker. Rockcrusher differential covers protect the gears, but with 37x13.50-16 Pit Bull Rocker tires, they probably don't get much use.

Crate Jeep
Through sheer happenstance, Brett J. Powell of Blandinsville, Illinois, met and bought a crate AMC 401 off of famous racer Don Adams. Don was sponsored by AMC back in the 1980s and still had a 401 lying around. So, Brett bought it and dropped it in his '91 Wrangler along with a TF727, and Dana 300. The Dana 300 got an Advance Adapters heavy-duty rear output after Brett blew up the stock output. Axles are J-truck sourced units with the front being a Dana 44 and the rear a Dana 60, both with Lock-Rights and 4.56 gears turning a set of 37-inch Super Swamper Iroks.
