Roo Wrangler
Adrian Ai Ngo lives in Bryne-Boulder, Western Australia, land of our friend the kangaroo, so of course his '97 TJ Sport Wrangler would have an owner-built "Roo Bar" Tera-flex T1 lift kit. The engine is a stock I-6 with a manual OEM gearbox, and other equipment includes Cooper 31-10 SR tyres-er, tires-an Eagle GPS, IPF driving lights, and an ARB compressor. Adrian plans to add ARB dual locks, front and rear, and to change the drive ratio from 3.07 to 3.73.
Big List
Damon and Whitney Knight say that their '93 Wrangler Model S comes with a big list of specs and here it is: a 2.5L engine, a five-speed tranny, a stock transfer case, add-a-leaves on the front and rear axles, Skyjacker Softride shocks all around, a P235-75R/15 M/S Courser OTD, a 12-volt air compressor with a 7-gallon tank mounted in the rear, a custom rear bumper that extends past the spare tire, bumperettes mounted on the front bumper with a Don-A-Vee 3-inch tube brushguard, a fire extinguisher, a folding U.S. Army shovel, a CB radio, a Blaupunkt sound system, and custom redwood oak dash, arm rests, door panels, and visor.
Hurricane
James Halliburton is retired from the U.S. Air Force, but that doesn't mean his life in Steilacoom, Washington, is retiring. James blows by like a hurricane in his '51 Willys Jeepster model 473 VJ (4), which is "98 percent original" and has an F-134 Hurricane engine.
Fully Loaded
This '91 Cherokee Laredo owned by Scott Cogswell of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, came fully loaded from the factory, but that didn't stop Scott from adding a few items. Some new features are the K&N air filter, Dynomax Super Turbo exhaust, 3-inch Rubicon Express Lift, grille guard, Hella 550 off-road lights, sway bar disconnects, Doetsch Tech 3000 shocks, 235/75R15 Traction Kings, Select Trac transfer case, and Motorola cellular phone.
Whitewash
This '94 Wrangler owned by Richard Koethke of Spokane, Washington, looks sano enough to eat off, doesn't it? Well, you'd have to chow down while in motion 'cause this Jeep's on the move. It's a 2.5L five-speed with a K&N filter, a 2-inch lift, and 1 3/4-inch shackles. Those are 15x8 ARE wheels with 31x10.50x15 BFG All-Terrains. Inside are an Ungo alarm, a Sony CD player, Boston Acoustics mid/tweets, a Rockford Fosgate amp, and Soundstream subs.
Stumped
Ah, nothing's finer than a nice day outdoors, stump-sitting. At least it looks that way for Adam Pratt of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, who has propped his '78 CJ-5 up on a stump to better display its many features. This CJ is equipped with a T-150 trans, an Edelbrock Performer carb and intake, Hooker headers and sidepipes, 33x12.5xG15 Mud King XTs, a Pioneer stereo system, a Sunpro digital steering wheel, American Racing 15x10 Chrome Nugget wheels, KC lights, a Bestop Supertop and console, a 4WD hardware fiberglass body, and K&N air filter, a Cobra CB radio, '39 Ford taillights, jade-green metallic paint, and front and rear stainless racing bumpers.
Little Jewel
Terry Steward of Springfield, Missouri, spent three years giving his "Little Jewel" of a '70 CJ-5 a frame-up restoration. Terry's goal was to keep the Jeep as close to the look of the original as possible. It has the original T-14A three-speed transmission, Spicer 18 transfer case, Dana 44 offset rear differential, and 27A front differential. The modifications include a Loc-Rite rear locker, an electric fuel boost pump, and a Ramsey 5,000-pound winch. Terry had the 12-leaf spring stack re-arched, and he installed polyurethane body bushings. He found a set of M-38 military 16-inch wheels with 6.50x16 mud & snows.
Past, Present, and Future XJ
Jim Kent of Lithia Springs, Georgia, is enthusiastic about not only his '95 XJ but he loves all XJs and would like to see more off-road events for the object of his affection. Jim has lavished lots of attention on his CJ and has plans for more. So far it has a 3-inch Pro Comp lift, '97 TJ 15x8 alloys with Goodyear 30x9.50 GSAs, a stealth lightbar with four Mopar (KC) lights, two Mopar driving lights, Pro Comp ES3000 shocks, a Pro Comp ES3000 steering stabilizer, a set of Mopar skidplates, and a Mopar hitch. That's all powered by a 4.0L engine, a AW4 trans, a Command-Trac 4WD transfer case, a Chrysler 8 1/4 rearend (3.55 locked factory), and a 2500 front end. Plans include Rubicon Express Quick Disconnects for the sway bar, front and rear Olympic rock bumpers and rock sliders, a Warn X8000I winch, and an Olympic roof rack.
In Focus
Luke Marshek has got a bead on his '84 CJ7, and everything's in focus. The CJ has a 258 I-6 with 49,000 original miles on it. The engine was restored by Luke and his dad last winter. The now gray interior was brown, and there's a T-4 tranny and 31-inch Armstrong ATs.
Needling Needle
Mark Needle of the Needles of Marieta, Georgia, takes exception to what he views as this magazine's bias toward late-model jeeps. Mark and his dad completely restored the family's '50 Willys Panel truck. It took them four years, but they're sure pleased with the results. The Willys has a restored F-134 engine and new tires. The chrome rings and hubcaps are the originals, and the hubcabs have been repainted.
