Free '92 Wrangler
We found a classifieds posting on ksl.com for a free '92 Wrangler. Only catch? It's free "with proposal and wedding ring." You have to marry the chick who comes with it. The Jeep has a winch, rear locker, and 33s; the woman has a sense of humor, an appreciation for sports, and the ability to live within her needs. "All you have to do is date and marry me," the listing said. Nothing in life is free.
Know of a Good Custom Shop?
We're putting together a guide to custom shops across the U.S., and who better to ask to do our legwork than you? We want recommendations for shops that did your engine swap, built your rollcage, or did any kind of good fabrication work. Think of it as one reader recommending a shop to another reader.
Now, don't just send us a note saying there's a great custom shop in your town that built your Jeep and it's behind the Waffle House near that place where the thing happened that time a few years ago. These are the specifics we need:
*Correct name of the shop;
*Contact info (website and phone number);
*The type of custom work they do;
*A couple of sentences about why you liked the shop.
If you've got a photo of your Jeep as a work in progress while at the shop, feel free to send it, although we can't promise we'll use it. And don't send us more than one photo or 10 different angles of it. One photo is all we want. And surprisingly, we do have standards at Jp: The image must be a minimum of 1600 x 1200 pixels (or two-megapixels). Format should be maximum quality .jpg, .eps, or .tif. Send info to Jp Custom Shops at jpmag@yahoo.com.
Staff's Favorite Web Sites
Ever wonder what the staff of Jp looks at online other than jpmagazine.com? Here's the scoop on some of what we have bookmarked:

*quake.usgs.gov/recenteqs/latest.htmKinda cool to get up-to-date earthquake info, not that I'm scared of it or anything. It's just neat to know how big they were and where they were centered when they happen here.
*traffic.tann.net/maps/lartraffic.jspIt's fun to think about other people all pissed off and rotting in traffic while I sit in my office and laugh at rush hour.
*aitutaki.com/phototheque.htmCan someone please send me on vacation here?

*jalopyjournal.comIt's old-school hot rod stuff. There are some killer fabricators, really neat cars, and some great deals on vintage iron, but mostly it's a bunch of crusty old guys and whiney Web weenies who rule their forum with a dictatoresque iron fist. It's fun to watch them kill the fun on some threads.
*uncrate.comIf you're a guy, you'll get it.
*redtagsports.comIf you skateboard, snowboard, or wakeboard (or just wanna be a wannabe), this site has some killer deals. They used to do funny videos on the stuff they sell as well. Maybe they still do. Been too broke lately to shop there.
*hulu.comFree videos and movies on your computer. If I ever get the sand to cancel my cable TV this will be my anchor to sanity.
Editorial: Trasborg*forum.xda-developers.com/index.phpThis is where I go to learn about phones. It is easy for the user to modify a Windows-mobile phone, and this is the best site to help.
*craigslist.orgThis is my crack. Furniture, Jeep parts, Jeeps, trucks, Jeeps for friends-I've bought and sold it all here.
*grimmjeeper.com/gears.htmlChristian likes to calculate this stuff on paper with an adding machine. I prefer this site for its side-by-side comparisons, included transmissions and T-cases, and it's just plain easy to use. Just plug in your trans/t-case/axle ratio/tire size and go.

Art: Huber*vw166.comAs red-blooded Americans we all know Jeep rules and helped us win WWII, but that doesn't change the fact that the fledgling Volkswagen company had some cool engineering of its own.
*dpreview.comAs a graphic designer and art director, I need to keep up with all the new digital imaging devices (cameras) that come down the pike. This site has it all, with pages for beginners and advanced users alike.
*hillcofasteners.comMost hardware store fastener selections come down to crappy no-grade junk or "We don't carry that." If you need more than either of those, make yourself a list and get it here, or just browse.
Art: Smith*fordmuscle.comThere are a lot of good Ford tech articles by the staff and forum members, plus they give rewards and cash if you submit worthy tech articles that they end up posting. The site caters primarily to the Ford V-8 engine family and has an emphasis on modifying Fords for better performance.
*planetminis.comI recently got addicted to fixing up an old '86 Honda Z50, and this is the place to go to get great advice and tips on finding parts. They cater to all generations and makes of 50cc to 110cc motorcycles.
