Americans are driving less. So says the U.S. Public Interest Research Group Education Fund and the Frontier Group. Younger generations are mostly to blame. As usual.
The National Insurance Crime Bureau found that 2011 looks like it’ll be a year of fewer vehicle thefts, which is also a recent annual trend. When it came to top 10 metropolitan statistical areas and theft, California stole the show, with 7 cities on the list. Number one was Fresno. That also was a trend; it ranked numero uno in 2010, too.

The new ’12 Wrangler Freedom edition was designed with a nod to military, both Jeep’s past and those who have or are serving in the military. The Freedom comes in the colors you’d expect—if you’re slow, we mean red, white, and blue—and further specialties include a star decal on the hood and rear quarter-panels and exterior and interior badging that says “Oscar Mike”— military-speak for on the move. For every Freedom sale, Jeep is giving $250 to charities benefiting U.S. military members—Fisher House Foundation and I Support Foundation.
