I've been trying to get some new axles for my TJ but have come up against a road block when trying to use the stock bolt pattern on outer knuckles that are bigger than D30. Yesterday I heard that someone makes a unit bering that will bolt onto a D60 knuckle and a 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern while accepting a larger than stock outer axle shaft. Does anybody know if this is true and if so who makes it? thanks for any thoughts!

I have a 85 CJ7 with the warn full floating axle kit on the AMC model 20. I just found out that warn doesn't make the kit anymore and the local distributor hasn't been any help locating parts. Does anyone out there have any ideas where I might locate parts. I need a o-ring kit for the hub and hub screws, and a new set of locking nuts and washer.

I see in the article "project milage master part II" that grand cherokee seats were put in a 98 Cherokee XJ. Does anyone have any details on how to do the swap. I have a 91 Cherokee Limited XJ and would like to install Grand Cherokee seats. The original leather front seats are pretty bad.

I am planning to buy the new rough country 2.5 inch suspension lift (with the 2.2 shocks) and combine it with my existing 2 inch spacer lift. I think the shocks will be perfect because they are the same shocks the at are available with there 4 inch lift and are rated for a 2-4 inch lift. I am also planning to get the daystar 1 inch body lift. The tire I was most interested in was the 35 inch SSR series TSL. what do you think of this suspension set up and what are the biggest tires I can run? will this set up give me the same amount of lift as a 5.5 inch full suspension lift? Do you think i will need a pitman arm or transfer case drop?

I recently put a 360 in my CJ7. I have an Edelbrock intake and 650 Performer Series Carb. The carb bolted right on and runs good but needs some fine tuning. I connected a dwell meter and could not get an changes by adjusting the air and fuel unless i turned them the whole way in, then the jeep would stall. Also I turned the idle down and if I set it below about 750 or 800 it stalls when I put it in gear. It doesnt run bad but seems a little rich, plus i get 7mpg. I think the motor may have a beefed up cam. Any thoughts?

I am currently in Iraq and will be returning home soon. I purchased an 1998 Wrangler Sahara Edition, 6 cylinder, 5 speed. Has both hard and soft top..will probably use hard top most of the time. Here is what I plan on doing to it. I would like opinions from all if this is along the right lines. I want to be able to use 32" tires and a possible upgrade to 33's later. The Jeep itself will be exposed to a variety of duties but mainly freeway speeds of 75 to 80 MPH. I like the 2.5" Rancho lift kit. In addition to this I will probably purchase upper adjustable control arms to regain as much wheelbase as possible. I am thinking about the Rancho RSX type shocks to go with this as well. If I need to add a 1" spacer I can do that too.I think that will make plenty of room for the 32" tires on some type of cragar or other type 15x8 rim. I want to also use the antirock swaybar kit for the front. If I run it on it's stiffest setting, will I have any issues on the highway? In the front D30, I am going to buy brand new axles and equip it with a trutrac...might go with Auburn Gear ECTED. Will regear to 3.73 or 4.10 gears. Really leaning toward the 3.73's. In the rear D35, I will regear it as well, replace with new 30 spline axle, and thinking about going with The Auburn Gear ECTED. I like the idea of the limited slip to locker. That is pretty much the big stuff. I also plan on getting the small things done like new battery and engine tune-up and so on. I also have to replace the steering box and pump thanks to my wife....(long Story short...she got it stuck and broke alot of stuff....including the front axle)I can do most of the work myself. I will have to farm out the axles as I am not familiar on gear changes. Total cost is about $5000 without labor on the axles. So my question to all of you out there.... Is there any part of this configuration that is not right or could be made better while keeping it right around the $5000 - $6000 budget. Any input is always greatly appreciated. I will check back as often as as I can...but if I don't respond right away...don't give up on me. We are busy at times. I will do my best. Thanks!!

This is 1986 jeep comanche 2.8l v6 4x4 truck does start up it has no trans case in it,went bad trying to look for one it had a 207 in it started doing some body work on it has little rust around the driver side wheel well in back a hole in the driver side floor but I do have a pice of sheet meatl in there body is in good shape just dont have the time to work on it the brakes in to be bleed also anyone looking for a jeep to work with this is the one here are some pics will try and get more if needed open to price

ok, leaking original radiator, gona get a new one. is there any real difference between a stock replacement one or a performance rad? its a 4 banger. secondly, is it worth the money to get an electric fan? i read that it frees up some HP cus it takes the strain from the engine but is it enough to be worth it? i can use all the horsies i can get. :smirk:

The radiator on my TJ started leaking this morning. It's coming right out the top where it's crimped together. I know this is a common problem. What are some recommendations for a replacement? I've seen aluminum 3 core and steel 2 core? And prices ranging from $147 to $450. What are some reputable sellers? Thanks.

Ok I have read up alot on this forum, I just signed up today. Here's the thing. I have a 97 Tj 4.0 auto. Bone Stock. I want to run 33's. I was looking at the ome Trailblazer kit, but just tonight I noticed it said it included coil spacers in the kit. for the past two weeks i thought the kit included 4" coils all the way around, not a combo of coil and spacers. so I was bummed. I live no where close to extreme offroad areas. it is a street jeep with weekend ventures on 60 acres of family property , nothing major. I am on a low budget, times are tough right now and in the future, a better lift will be possible, but for the past two days I've been thinking of just getting the 3" coil spacers, with extended pro comp shocks for like 220.00... seems from what i read that i could clear my 33's with that, and not have to buy anything else except disconnects. I live in flat michigan. so my wheeling is basically hill climbs and two tracks, and of course snow. will this kit give me what i need for right now? until I can scratch up enough for a true coil lift. thanks for your help, please comment and give me some direction. thanks

Hey I just wanted to say that I saw the 4Wheel&Off Road tech special for this quarter and I enjoyed it a lot. I also laughed, because a better name for it would be "Tech Editor Hazel Tech Special" or something like that. All but like 4 or 5 articles were written by him. I guess all of the other guys at the other magazines couldn't pull their own weight so Jp had to step in and show them how to swing. Nice work gents.

I found a 78 or 79 jeep cherokee chief with dana 44s front and rear and a 360 for $300.00. anyway my question is i want to run 39 inch tires and want to know if you guys think the axles are strong enough to handle them rock crawling.

future son in law has a jeep with I6. No vacuum lines hooked up except PCV. Says the jeep is smoking from the breather. Have heard of this before but don't know what causes were. Asked him some questions but the motor is a remanufactured less than 2 yrs old with less than 500o mile son it. Any ideas? :confused:

:help: Hello Everyone, I have a question for you. I purchased a Pro Comp cam bolt kit for the rear of my TJ after doing a 2" lift (have driveline vibrations). The instructions say to remove the plugs next to the bolt before installing the cam bolt to make it so you can do the adjustment. (See Photo) http://www.jeepforum.com/gallery/data/4/medium/Rear_Upper_Arm.jpg The shot shows the nut on the upper rear control arm removed. Next to the bolt on each side is a plug that must be removed to turn the hole into a slot for adjustment. What is the easiest way to remove those plugs???? I have tried to drive them out, but there is no room to get in there and do anything without dropping the rear end. Surely there must be an easier way. Any help on this is greatly appreciated. I have recently dropped an amc360 in my 85 cj7. i also added a th400 w/adapted dana 300. for some crazy reason my tranny oil pan sits at a weird angle!! WEIRD! it makes no sense because there is one way for them to bolt together. the th400 is out of a '79 cj7. i also had to get creative with an odd-ball skid plate i had laying around b/c the stock one would not work. i will also have to cut a section out of the front of the skid in order for the front driveshaft to clear. also, i have to have the front drive shaft lengthened b/c i'm about 3" shy. anyone have any experience with this conversion? the jeep runs great, shifts smooth and has lots of power. but i still feel like i may have made a mistake. thoughts??
