Start by removing the caliper and setting it aside, then the locking hub dial. Then, using a hub socket (available at any autoparts store) remove the hub and take the hub/rotor/bearing assembly off as a unit making sure the bearings don't fall out and get dirty. Remove the spindle bolts, spindle, and backing plate and then you're free to pull the axleshaft assembly out through the knuckle. Once you have the axleshaft assembly out, you're free to remove the U-joint C-clips, press out the U-joints, replace them, and reassemble. Not is a good time to buy new inner grease seals for the back of the hub so you can remove the inner and outer bearings for cleaning and inspection. If they're good, repack with quality grease. Please help!</b><br />Ok I know Jp had the answer to this question awhile back but can't find the particular issue. So I'm ready for new shoes on my jeep. I have a completely stock '10 wrangler 2 door. I'm gonna put Goodyear Duratracs on it as it's a daily driver. I'm looking at 17" wheels. My question is can I fit 33" tires under it without having clearance issues. I don't off-road much. My budget does not allow for a lift at this time but I am planning a mild 2" to 3" lift in the future. I just don't want to waste money on smaller tires that will look like crap after the lift. Also on a side note: how drastic are the changes in handling going to be with 33's? I found a good deal on some MT Classic II black wheels. Just putting that out there in case it makes a difference. I built the white and grey "No Lift TJ" several years back. I am pretty sure that you can do what you are talking about just make sure you extend the bump stops to keep the tires out of the metal out back. I usually get the tires mounted on the wheels I want to use and then cycle the suspension using a floor jack with the coils removed. This gives you a pretty good idea of how much you need to lengthen the bump stops to prevent the tires from hitting the tub or fenders. The MCE flat fenders should allow plenty of clearance with minimal lift. and your motor lift and 1.25 body lift without too many side effects. By the way I am working on building another TJ that has lots of similarity with what you are proposing here. Keep watching. Here it is, I just got my '06 Rubi/Unlimited running with a new 4.6 Golen stroker and I'm out test driving it and everything seems fine and I hit a good sized bump in the road and my wipers swish a couple of times and stop, then I come up to my street and turn my LH signal on and the wipers come on and stay on, I can't shut them off, so I squirt some washer fluid so the wipers don't scratch my windshield and the wipers cycle a couple of times and shut off. Then I have 1 more turn to hit my street and I hit the LH signal and the wipers come on again but this time nothing I do will stop them and they run all the way home (not far luckily) so in my driveway I try everything I can think of to no avail, then I shut off my headlites and the wipers stop, I turn the lites back on and the wipers start. I can't turn on my headlites without my wipers coming on. I hope someone can HELP! Have a look at Advance Adapters or Novak Conversions they should have you covered for the hard parts like motor mounts and adapters. The junkyard or craigslist is probably gonna be the best source for a motor, just be sure you know what you are getting especially from craigslist where there will be no guarantee that the engine is not junk. Which would require an adapter to the t-case. The major issue would be the fact your YJ has a driver side drop front axle and the Dana 18 is a passenger side drop. Also your rear axle is centered and the Dana 18 has an offset rear output. You can't just swap axles since the WMS-WMS of the Early 5 is ~50 inches and the YJ is 60inches. Then comes the question if the Dana 18 would be able to get around the transmission and the engine, that one I don't know, since it is a fairly narrow transfer case. Going to some 4 speed transmissions and some Automatics I know there is issues at times with the driveshaft hitting the transmission. I drive a yeep I know most jeepers don't consider these to be real jeeps. 2. I don't really know much on the mechanic side of things. Don't get me wrong I aint scurred. I just pulled my heads off (had them professionally rebuilt) I'm cocky not stupid. But i've been looking around at all the jeeps from 1990 and realize they all had FI well... for some reaon I have a carb. Can someone shed some light on why someone would do this? I know it had some sort of electronics under the hood that I don't have now because I have a plethera of loose elctrical plug ins all over. My guess is that there's a short somewhere, but I have no way of knowing if that's it for sure or where it is, without taking it into the local Jeep garage. How bad is it really? I have the opportunity to purchase a 2007 with 12652 miles for $17000. I am wondering if that is why the guy is selling it. I will use as a daily driver 80% of the time and mud and snow the other 20%. Granted the area wasn't dubbed as an offroad park but the City's water department (land owner) and police department turned a blind eye to the activities out there because they enjoyed having a local place to go play a well. Well, recently some high profile cases have shown up in the area so it's now officially shut down and fines will be handed out if you're caught in the area. An idea has been circulating about a State Park just south of the area that has lost alot of business over the last few years due to the water supply system for the lake is being revamped. So of course lake is practically dried up and it being dubbed as the only ski lake in the particular area the business dried up along with it. Anyhow, the idea is for the group to approach the rangers at said park and offer donated time to help clear/maintain fire roads with the possible hope of allowing us to create a Jeep trail that could possibly bring more attendance to the park. Is this a far fetched idea? Any recommendations or information I can bring with us when we decide to approach the rangers? While searching for information, I also found out that many owners are also interested in the UK amber / red tail light swap. Weather for looks, or those needing the conversion for a move to the UK. So here's the scoop. My Mom bought a mountain (or a large part of one) in SE Oklahoma. Near Clayton, OK. It is like 173 acres of untamed rocky terrain that would be a mountain of fun for some good crawlers! Here's the deal, My mom passed away and the guy that she was buying it from is not adhering to his end of the deal and is not only trying to foreclose, but wants it to go to auction and then come after the rest of my mom's stuff as well. So we are going to sell the mountain for about 60 cents on the dollar to pay him off. I was wondering if any of the readers here might be interested or if you would maybe spread the word to anyone you might know. Land up there typically goes for $1700 - $2400 per/acre depending on the type of land and location. We are only asking $1000 per/acre which would just pay him off and leave the rest of her stuff alone. Please tell me your thoughts on this. All work was done by Joe's Grinding, Yakima Wa) Directly after that it became a back burner project for years and was never reinstalled into the Jeep, until Spring of 2008. Motor has at the most 500 miles on it. This motor will stop on V8's. Last summer I found that it had been running with the wrong distributor. The plan was to pull that one out and find the correct distributor for that motor and year, then hollow it out and install an electronic ignition. But once again LIFE happened and the Jeep project got put on the back burner AGAIN. So after years and years of this JEEP being neglected it's officially time to find it a new owner. Jeep has been sitting out in the weather with no cover, so you can imagine it needs some TLC. I have recently moved towns and left the Jeep behind, but I will be making a trip soon and will take new pictures if need be. Some Pro's: *Body is in great shape, no bondo, no dents (except minor ones on the hood from the windshield falling down) *The running gear mid 70's Toyota Land Cruiser. *Saginaw 4 speed transmission *It's lifted *Sit's on 33x12.5 rims and tires. *Gauges are all Stewart Warner *Full custom built cage *Rino lined chassis, under carriage and interior body *Racing bucket seats. *Open diffs Some Con's: *Presently does not run due to no distributor (will give you the still in package Pertronix coil and Electronic ignition bought from Summit) *Paint needs some TLC. *The stainless dash has oxidized from the weather *Seat covers are shot. *Tires have seen better days. *Needs whole wiper assembly and other small odds and ends. This jeep has been in my family since it was bought brand new. It has been a VERY hard decision to let it go.
