I have a 1980 jeep C7 I just bought that has a dead stock 4cyl. I also have a CJ5 with a stock v8 I would like some info on swaping the v8 into the CJ7.I m new to the jeep world and would like any info. The cj5 ran when it was parked 2 yrs ago but has bad body damage and rust..too much so I bought the CJ7 to restore..How hard is the engine swap going to be and is it even worth it. please, the zippers on my half doors and rear window are busted and my kids are freezing. I would sew them shut if they weren't so scratched I can't see out of them at night. Last winter I brought them in at night so they wouldn't get frost encrusted, so, my seats etc get frost and snow.

94 wrangler 2.5L 5 speed. I was driving today, and drove a fair amount. Probably around 70 miles today. All day, it was fine. I was driving home, in the rain, on a road that is pretty constant, two lane, 45 MPH speed limit. It was fine one minute, the next the clutch would simply go to the floor and not disengage the gears. I could, and did, put the clutch to the floor, step on the gas, and the jeep would go as if the clutch were completely depressed. I did this three times, one time it was on the verge of disengaging the gears, but didn't, it would have needed another inch or so of depression, which it didn't have. I managed to get home just by matching revs to shift, and never quite stopping. Got home, turned off the jeep, went through the gears without clutch, went through gears WITH clutch, with at this point with the vehicle off had returned to normal, turned the vehicle on, and it worked perfectly. Reversed, drove forward, shifted into any gear- So why, within 30 seconds, did it STOP working, and then again decide to work? When it wasn't working I tried pumping the clutch often, to no avail. I have a slow master cylinder leak, and I assumed that maybe a line had burst and the fluid was gone...but why then would it work? It's pouring rain out or I would check the resevoir. Please help! Sounds to me like you really only need a basic 3-inch lift kit. But look for a kit with progressive rate coils if you can find 'em. You'll want an adjustable front track bar that fits in the factory location (no drop bracket). Don't use a drop pitman arm but replace the factory tie rod assembly with the heavy-duty Currie steering linkage. The factory rear track bar can be retained and fitted with a lift bracket. You may want to look for a weld-on reinforcement for the factory track bar mount on the axle. JKS may have one. I'd opt for a slip-yoke eliminator kit and CV rear driveshaft, but to run it properly you'll need adjustable upper rear control arms. You may want some heavy-duty lower arms but they don't really need to be adjustable.

It is not a Sahara for sure. It has a nice "Safari Edition" decal that matches the color scheme of the jeep on both sides of the jeep directly below the Wrangler and in between the Jeep logo. The decal "Safari" written on top, and "edition" at the bottom. In between these two words is a sand dune with a palm tree and a partial sun. They look pretty nice so I just assumed they were factory. I asked the guy I bought it from and he said they were on it when he bought it new. If the "safari and "edition" were two different stickers, or looked hokey I would be more willing to understand what you mean. It just seems someone would have gone through a lot of troouble to have those decals made. Besides, where would you get "safari Edition decals? Is that something common? I mean I don't know so please do not think I am stupid or something. I definately do not dount you, I am just trying to get full understanding. The guy I bought it from said it came standard with a two inch suspension lift and he added a 2 inch body lift on top of that. Maybe he was lying but I trust him. He has a rubicon and is a fireman so.. You know. It is my USMC Jepp so I talk a lot about it. Doing work to make it for sure BADASS. I have heard of safari rear seats so maybe it has to do something with that. I really appreciate the information.

For the spring mounting, if you're spring under now I'd keep it that way. New spring perches are about $10 from summitracing.com if you have trouble saving the old ones while cutting them off. As for the spacing and bolt pattern, you might look at purchasing a set of used 5 on 5.5 wheels and get wheel spacers/adapters for the rear axle. If you get within 2" difference (1" each side) it will hardly be noticable. Used wheels are usually very affordable and might also come with some worn out 35's you can use to get everything to fit. I've had great success with ARB lockers, I have 6 of them and no problems.

I recently received my Congo Cage and Bushman Rack that I ordered from Quadratec for my '99 TJ. I ordered them up because in my opinion they look great and the claimed 500 pound carrying capacity really appealed to me. I was just curious if anyone who owns one or has owned one in the past has had any problems with the hardware that held the floor tubes to the cross members on the basket coming loose after installation? The button head bolts insert into the flange nuts, but as tight as the bolts go they are still at least a quarter inch from bottoming out in the flange nuts. The bolts are a bit short in my opinion. I've used blue loctite on all the bolts. I'm just a little skeptical of the supplied hardware and am probably gonna go to the hardware store to upgrade to bolts that will bury themselves a little more into the flange nuts, but thought i'd try to get some owner opinions. I replaced some of the hardware that came with the congo cage because threads were stripped and the nuts crossed instantly as i tried to install. Really not trying to be debbie downer here, but i did pay over eleven hundred (canadian with shipping) for the items i ordered and it would've been nice to get it installed with confidence first try. I contacted Kargo Master with my issues but have yet to hear back. Minor setbacks aside I am very happy with the cage and basket and am not trying to discourage anyone from their products, just looking for some feedback.

Hey everyone , just wanting some advice on headlights for my 03 TJ . The factory ones as we all know really are not great can't see hardly at all with them at night . What is out there for replacements that are really bright and not going to take a loan out to get. And what about the fact that the factory are sealed beams I see alot of the new stuff is light housing with seperate bulbs. I do hit water wholes alot ...? Any feed back would be great . you should be able to unbolt the unibearing and not mess with the ball joints unless they need replaced

You say "fit"? Well, sure, it's about the right width (a little wider than stock) but you will surely need to install and weld-on the correct suspension bracketry. It won't bolt on but it would be a good match for the WK's powertrain. Not sure if all the JK axle sensors will work with the WK computer. But I'm sure it can be overcome.
