.Dui Live Wires: $84.99The Performance Distributors DUI Livewires spark plug wires are some of the best we've ever used. With nice sheathing, vulcanized boots that don't pull off and low-resistance innards, they're a bargain at $84.99 for the V-6 Jeep engine and $99.99 for V-8 AMC engines. 12.Accel Super Tune-Up Kit: $59.99At under $60 for the Jeep 258 and 4.0L six-cylinder engines, Accel's tune-up kit is a steal. It includes a high-performance cap and rotor, Accell Extreme 9000 plug wire set with boots rated to 1,200 degrees, wire looms, and excellent Accel U-groove spark plugs. 13.4WD Hardware After-Cat Exhaust: $92.99Owners of '72-'86 CJs can rest easy when their factory mild steel exhaust falls onto the street. The aluminized after-cat exhaust from 4WD Hardware's in-house brand includes a high-po muffler and mandrel-bent tubing. Contact: 4 Wheel Drive Hardware; 800/333-5535, www.4wd.com
.Dana 30 U-Bolt Yoke: $31.95Any owner of an '84-and-later Jeep that uses straps instead of good ol' U-bolts to hold the U-joint in place can upgrade to a genuine Omix-ADA yoke. The yoke fits all '72-'05 Dana 30 front axles. Contact: Discount Jeep Parts; 800/490-7921, www.discountjeepparts.com
.Amc V-8 Exhaust Manifold: $96.95Not everybody wants to run headers. The only problem is that factory Jeep exhaust manifolds tend to crack and break over time. Omix-ADA still offers replacement exhaust manifolds for AMC Jeep V-8 engines. We found driver-side manifolds for $91.95, while the passenger-side manifolds run for $96.95. 16.Tranny Filter And Temp Gauge: $79.88Perma Cool's transmission filter mounts in line between the tranny and tranny cooler and includes a tranny temp gauge-a must for any Jeep driven off-road with an auto tranny. We found ours under PN PRM-10677 through Summit. Contact: Summit Racing; 800/230-3030, www.summitracing.com
.Tci Tranny Cooler: $71.95 TCI's flat-panel tranny cooler measures 3/4 x 10 x 15 1/2 inches and should be able to keep most autos cool under severe abuse. We've also successfully used them as a huge, honkin' power-steering fluid cooler mounted to the low-pressure side of the pump. Check Summit's PN TCI-823800. 18.Mini Spool: $39.99Just like it says, the mini spool replaces the spider gears in a factory open differential case with a solid chunk of steel that locks the two axleshafts together. Although inexpensive, a mini spool is ultimately only as strong as the carrier in which it's mounted. We sourced the above price for a Ford 9-inch, although versions are available for other popular axles, including the Dana 44. Contact: Drivetrain Warehouse; 888/432-7656, www.4wheelparts.com
.Tj Deep Tranny Pan: $82.95Although there are others on the market, the '97-'02 TJ 999-auto tranny pan from Rubicon Express was the only one that made our $100 cutoff. A deep tranny pan will help cure the TJ's tendency to uncover the transmission fluid pickup in the pan and aerate the fluid. In short, it just works better at angles off-road.
