It gets old quick when you get multiple fix-it tickets from the fuzz for not having rear fenders that cover the tires. This ’93 Jeep Wrangler with a competition cut was getting stopped regularly, so a solution had to be found.

Before: There was virtually no coverage for the tops of the tires on this rig. The Man had a field day issuing us tickets until it was changed.
Modern Classic Enterprises makes its line of Flexible Fenders for Jeep CJs and YJ, TJ, and JK Wranglers. The material is a space-age plastic called TPO. The company didn’t have a rear fender for this application when we called, but was willing to work out a prototype using this rig and now offers a complete kit that includes fenders, fasteners, and a cutting pattern. Did we mention there is a lifetime warranty on the product? The end result is a flatty fender look that will no doubt please some and turn off others. The owner of this Jeep is thrilled each time he passes an officer and simply gets a friendly wave.

A bit of trimming is needed to retain the inner fenders. A template is provided. Scott Valente is working on the front fenders in this photo (might as well have all four fenders match, right?)

After: The Flexible Fenders from MCE cover enough of the tire to make fix-it tickets no longer a concern.
