Why Put Good Money Into an Axle That Appears to Have So Many Weaknesses?
Its easy to spot two-piece axles. They have large retaining nuts on the ends that hold the shafts and the flanges together, sometimes. If you use your Jeep in the dirt, get rid of the two-piece shafts. Not only did the AMC 20 come with this design, some Dana 44s also have two-piece shafts so look out if you are axle swapping.
