The same goes for the ring gears. A Dana 44 (right) has a ring-gear diameter of 8 1/2 inches. The AMC 20 gear (left) has a diameter of 8 7/8 inches. However, newer Dana 44s have 1.31-inch 30-spline shafts. The 20 has 1.25-inch 29-spline shafts. Older 44s have 1.25-inch shafts with either 10 or 19 splines. View Related Article
