Hopefully when you jump behind the wheel of your Jeep every morning, you take your steering system for granted. Because if you didn’t, that would mean that you would be somewhat in doubt of one of your Jeep’s vital operational systems. Now if you have ever driven any type of vehicle with manual steering, you know that it leaves something to be desired. When you get a non-power-steering Jeep out on the trail, the battle with a manual steering system can become much worse, especially if that Jeep is equipped with bigger tires and lockers.

Luckily for us, people have been doing power-steering conversions on Jeeps ever since someone came up with the idea of doing such a swap. As a result, with a little fabricating skill, and a few readily available parts, just about anyone can convert their Jeep to Saginaw power steering or upgrade factory pieces for top-of-the-line goodies. We recently did a power-steering conversion on an early flatfender, so with the conversion still fresh in our minds here are a few tips and tricks that should make any conversion or upgrade go easier.
