Rollbars were originally mounted to the fenderwell on a piece of angle iron. This one has also been bolted to the side of the body with what looks like a plywood spacer. It's easy to visualize how, on a hard rollover, the angle iron would just push down, breaking the spot-welds on the side of the body.
