The tuning is done at the antenna. Most steel whips have an Allen-head set screw to loosen the whip which can be lowered or raised as needed. A fiberglass whip can be trimmed with a hacksaw, by turning out a brass screw, or by trimming a wire under the rubber cap. Tune it like I mentioned above, or if you only use one channel, tune it for the lowest SWR on whatever channel you use (1:1). View Related Article
