The Rubicon Express Extreme-Duty 4.5-inch YJ springs have a lot of cool features that make them work, while still retaining flexibility, including diamond-cut leafs, bolt-on spring clamps, and anti-friction liners. Check out the full military wrap on the frame end and the partial snail wrap on the shackle end. This helps eliminate wrap and increases spring strength.

When determining what size lift spring to run when replacing your spring-over, you've got to take into account your axletube diameter, as well as your spring perch height. Don't forget to double the perch height measurement because they'll actually be taking away from the lift height once they're mounted under the axletubes.

Our old setup used five-leaf rear YJ springs but required a traction bar, which limited articulation and stiffened the ride somewhat. The biggest thing a spring-over has going for it is increased ground clearance in front of the axletubes.

1953 Jeep Flattie Stock Yj Springs Smoother Ride
Our new spring-under setup offers better flex and a smoother ride with the same stability as the spring-over. The vehicle now climbs better with no hopping. We're not really concerned with the slight loss of ground clearance because the springs will act as ramps on obstacles.
