A snatch block is nothing more than a pulley that can be affixed to any sturdy winch anchor to double the pulling power of a winch. Keep in mind that in addition to doubling the pulling power, a snatch block also decreases the winch speed by half. You can run one, two, three, or more snatch blocks, for complex recoveries, but for most normal off-roaders, a snatch-block comes in handy to redirect the winch line for a more straight-on tug.
