Once we start putting bigger tires on the Jeeps, the stock tailgate-mounted carrier just isn't enough. Over time the strain on the tailgate hinges will take its toll, and if you are ditching the stock bumper in favor of something that will take some abuse, why not save your tailgate some agony and install a dedicated spare tire carrier? We've done hands-on shootouts in the past, but when it came time to look at rear bumper/tire carriers for the '07-and-up Wrangler, we were overwhelmed by the choices and figured you might be, too.
